The Battle of Lexington Green

On April 18, 1775, the British set out to seize munitions stored in a house in Concord, MA. Paul Revere was alerted and made his famous ride warning the colonists “The British Are Coming”.

Warned of the British Approach the Concord “Minutemen” turned the army back at the Concord Bridge. The British retreated towards Boston but were met with heavy fire from Minutemen hiding behind trees and stone walls as they retreated. Many were killed or wounded.

Finally, the British reached Lexington Green and around 50 to 70 militiamen gathered at Lexington Green in response to the British troops' approach. As dawn broke, the sound of marching soldiers alerted the colonists, who formed a line on the town common.

The ensuing battle ushered in “The Shot Heard Around the World” and marked the start of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775.

This original 24 x 36 Oil Painting will be on display at the Star City Hall from July 13, 2026, through October 1, 2026, and depicts my idea of what the battle might have been like. God Bless America!
